READER POLL: October is complicated. Let’s check in.
From the Sunday Self-Care Chronicles | 9/28/25
This week’s Sunday Self-Care Chronicles is a reader poll and check-in ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. October can be complicated—tender, overwhelming, or grounding—and I want to know how it feels for you, and what kind of emails you’d like to receive this month. Two quick polls will help me shape content that truly supports you.
Read the full email below - and if something speaks to you please feel free to comment, share, or reach out!
Hello darling,
We’re about to step into October, and most of you already know what that means: Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM).
For some, this is a time of solidarity and visibility, but for many… it’s complicated.
The onslaught of pink EVERYTHING and calls for awareness and action can feel overwhelming, triggering, or just plain exhausting.
On top of that, you may have your own anniversaries of diagnoses, surgeries, or treatments (or other difficult times) that land this month too.
I want to acknowledge that and I want to check in with you before the floodgates open.
This year, I’m not sure how I want to show up in your inbox during Breast Cancer Awareness Month—and I’d love your help deciding what to share.
To make it easy I've created TWO QUICK POLLS that will let your voice be heard and help me show up accordingly.
All you have to do is choose one answer from each poll and my handy little email platform here and I will do the rest!
I so appreciate you taking moment to smash those buttons because October is a very busy month for me and this will ensure that I can get these emails teed up and ready to go for you with content you actually want to receive.
So without further ado, on to the polls*!
*these polls were originally created inside of my email platform so if you reading this on the web you can click here to share your answers via email. Please copy and paste your answers into the email.
1. How are you feeling about October and all that comes with it? (select one):
Tender—it brings up a lot for me
Over it—pink fatigue is real
Mixed—there are positives, but it’s complicated
Grounded—I feel okay heading in this year
Excited! — I look forward to it every year
2. When it comes to my emails this October, what would feel most supportive for you? (select one):
BCAM-focused content (resources, education, and awareness beyond the pink parade)
Gentle self-care reminders (calming, grounding practices to carry you through)
Personal reflections and lived experience (the real + raw side of Pinktober and more)
Practical self-care tools (like self-massage, lymphedema tips, mind-body practices)
Maybe a mixed bag or one email focused on each?
As always I'm so grateful for our connection and your generosity of allowing me into your inbox.
Whatever the results end up being, as always, I will do my best to meet you where you are and bring you weekly emails that educate, encourage, and inspire you in your survivorship experience.
I'm always in this with you.
ps. If you have more thoughts, concerns, or feelings ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month than can be summed up in two polls, please hit reply and share away! I read and respond to every email.
pps. There is no right or wrong way to navigate BCAM so please know that no matter HOW I feel about it, I will always respect your right to your feelings and opinions. I listen and I don't judge.
ppps. If you like what you read here please consider forwarding this email to a friend or sharing it on your socials.
