Busy squirrel or cozy homebody?

From the Sunday Self-Care Chronicles | 9/21/25

This week’s Sunday Self-Care Chronicles reflects on the fall equinox—the rare day when light and dark find balance—and how we can use the turning of the seasons to guide our own rhythms of healing.

This week’s issue touches on:

✨ The equinox as a reminder of balance in nature and within ourselves
✨ The difference between external seasons and our own internal ones
✨ How self-care can shift depending on whether life feels full or spacious

Hey there gorgeous,

The fall equinox arrives tomorrow—the day when light and dark find their rare balance.

It’s a beautiful reminder that nature works in rhythms and so do we.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, autumn asks us to slow down. The air cools, the leaves begin to change, and the pace of summer gives way to something more inward and reflective. It’s the season of gathering in, preparing, and conserving energy for what’s to come.

Elsewhere in the world this moment may begin to signal that it’s time to expand and look outward. Spring’s quickening energy and summer’s bright, expansive days invite us to stretch, to move, to create, and to be more visible in the world.

But here’s the thing: your internal season may or may not match the one happening outside your window.

What matters most is noticing what you need right now, and giving yourself permission to move with that rhythm.

In recovery and healing through a breast cancer experience, balance is rarely about doing it all at once

It’s about reflecting, choosing, and adjusting—so the months ahead suit you best.

This equinox is a chance to pause and ask yourself: what do I most need right now?

— Is this a time to pour energy into routines and commitments?

— Or is it a time to protect your rest and create more space for yourself?

— Maybe it’s a little of both.

Personally, over the next couple of months I'm going to be focused on:

— enjoying whatever beautiful weather Buffalo gives us before winter sets in

— spending time with family and friends (my calendar is quite full through November!)

— leaning into my online work projects as much as I can while still serving my in-person clients

I feel like one of the busy squirrels making the most of the waning light and fitting in the most important things before winter eventually calls me to rest and regroup.

So as the days shift, I’d love to know: what kind of season are you stepping into? Busy, spacious, or somewhere in between?

Hit reply and share—I’d love to hear.

As the seasons turn, I'm always in this with you.
